ThE BACKSTORY

This group has been a dream of Co-Founder Justin Patterson for many years. Easily aroused by the thought of planning a current golf trip as well as future golf trips, Justin has longed for a golf club with his buddies that they could call their own. In the midst of a pandemic summer in 2020, a trip to Bandon Dunes in the fall of 2020 was bandied about amongst the group and before anyone knew it, JP had contacted Bandon Dunes, locked in three days’ worth of tee times and needed everyone’s credit card number. The trip was a great success, and the guys immediately began tossing around ideas for the next trip and future trips. The final cut came down the Ozarks, Kiawah Island and Streamsong Resort with Kiawah coming out the winner. The trip was planned, and the group was locked in. The only thing missing was an official group as well as a name.
Luckily, the golf Gods shone upon the group on a fateful morning at Tega Cay Golf Club in South Carolina. On the drivable par 4 11th hole, JP found himself along the brush on the left side of the hole after a snappy duck hook of a drive. He then proceeded to top his next shot into a large bunker in front of the green. JP pulled out his trusty 60 degree wedge out to try and get up and down to save par. After not one, not two, not three, but four attempts to get out of the bunker, JP’s ball finally made it out and over the green. Within a blink of an eye, the 60-degree wedge went from one piece to two over the knee of JP and then went helicoptering over the green. There was some collateral damage as well including a sliced thumb and a nice little hole in brand new Linksoul pants. After a few moments to allow him to gather himself, the rest of the group proceeded to bust his balls about his numerous bunker shots and the damage to his thumb and new pants.
Luckily, Hads made the heads up play to gather the broken pieces of the 60-degree wedge, which now is part of our highly sought after and coveted trophy. The group had been compiled and we finally found our inspiration for the name of one of the most elite golfing clubs in the country as well as the world.
